The Resort | Consulting Engineers Sunshine Coast
K & K Consulting Engineers were involved with the design, documentation and certification of a resort type structure in Sunshine Coast, QLD. This included Forms 15 and 16 of over a 3500 SQM area.
It was a single-story building with 20m long indoor swimming pool designed by us. It also included all sorts of fun activities areas such as a bowling area, cinema, entertainment zone.
The foundation of this building was designed by us as a concrete raft slab with pad footing system. The superstructure of the building was designed as a combination of steel and timber framing systems. More importantly, the timber framing system was mostly included into the building in order to reduce the construction cost. This also improved the constructability of the entire project. More importantly, the client informed us they constructed a similar building on another site designed by another engineering consultant. We have been told that the building designed by us was far more cost effective in comparison. Our design optimisation helped to reduce the construction cost significantly.
